Integration Processes in Central Asia: Contradictions, Driving Forces, Prospects

This paper examines the issue of integration processes in Central Asia. In the first part of the work, the analysis of the history of Central Asian integration in the period from 1991 to 2005 is carried out. In the first part of the work, the importance of integration for the region is determined and the main driving forces and opportunities that emphasize the indispensability of regional integration are justified. Further, a historical overview of the formation of integration processes in Central Asia within the framework of the CAC, CAES and OCAS is given. In the conclusion of the first part of the study, the reasons for the stagnation of Central Asian intraregional integration from 1991 to 2005 are presented and outlined. The second part of the study is devoted to the reset of regional integration processes in Central Asia from 2016 to 2019 and details the dilemma of the alternative to integration between Russia and China. In conclusion, forecasts on the prospects of regional integration in Central Asia are given.
