The last year has witnessed a renewed importance in travel content on YouTube. This graduation paper sheds new light on the differences between amateur and professional practices and tools of audience engagement of travel bloggers on Russian-speaking YouTube. The key method used in the project proposal is discourse analysis. The research examines the problematic field of contemporary travel journalism and the phenomenon of video blogging on YouTube. The main body analyses amateur and professional practices of audience engagement featured in the most popular travel blogs. Moreover, this part illuminates how the amateur and professional practices of audience engagement differ in the form of content presentation, ways of representing other cultures and the author's self-presentation. This study also explores the features of amateur and professional audience engagement tools in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
