The Approaches to Life Course Research: Age Representations in Social Media

The academic paper investigates age representations in social media as providing a set of collectively shared images about maturation. The study uses the method of analyzing conceptual metaphors that is based on the construction of mental maps. The metaphors are necessary to visualize the life course and they also highlight a set of emotional experiences about the key life stages. The result of the research represents a pool of conceptual metaphors categorized by age and typical portraits of representatives of different ages according to VKontakte representations.
