The thesis is dedicated to the problem of biased attitude of people who live in Russia towards the Russian Roma. Almost half of Russians think that the Russian Roma do not have a permanent address, 74 % of Russians — that they do not comply with laws, 35% of Russians fear Roma and do not trust them. The bias is connected to the existence of numerous stereotypes about Roma translated by means of media including documentaries and television documentaries. Our project aims to provide an alternative representation of Roma in the media format of a documentary film. Our heroes are the Roma intelligentsia supporting modern ideas about life. We would like to shift a focus from traditional attitudes regarding Roma to their real life in the 21st century. Keywords: representation of Roma, documentaries, stereotypes.
