The process of globalization began with the emergence of market relations and has continued to develop since then, despite the protectionist measures of different countries at different times. Globalization reached its peak in the 80-90s of the XX century. Neoliberal reforms, the collapse of the socialist bloc, the opening of Asian markets - this and much more give rise to the assumption that the economies of different countries will integrate further until the “end of history” comes. The illusion collapses with the economic crisis of 2008: new local conflicts and the strengthening of radical movements. Whether de-globalization will become a short-term trend or a new era in the history of mankind, whether it will lead to the strengthening of democracy or exacerbation of conflicts, remains to be seen.
