Foreign direct investment is among the factors that affect the level of development of the country, the state of international trade and the position of local business. In addition, FDI can influence the market structure of the country by changing the level of market concentration, which determines the competitive situation. Foreign companies in the market can either increase competition by depriving the monopoly of a dominant position or weaken it by crowding out small enterprises. Russia is one of the 20 most popular destinations in the world for foreign investors and receives significant volumes of FDI in the industrial sector. The share of foreign companies planning to continue operating in the Russian market or expand their presence remains high. The aim of the work is to assess the impact of inward FDI on the level of market concentration in the Russian main industrial sectors.
