Communication Strategies for Working With Sensitive Topics: Ethnography of the Committee Against Torture Project

The academic paper is connected to the issue of communication strategies used by public projects to discuss sensitive issues. Since the presented research question involves violence, it has potential to become an emotional trigger for a person who is not prepared to discuss the phenomenon. The issue of physical violence might receive ambiguous reaction from users. Therefore, brands and projects have to carefully choose strategies for communicating with readers if the published information is related to torture. The problem of physical violence may receive ambiguous reactions from different audiences. Media projects have to carefully choose strategies for communicating with their readers if the published information is related to torture issues. To conduct the research, academic papers were analyzed and the ethnographic case-study was conducted. The case of the “Committee against torture” project was chosen due to the fact that its accounts on different online platforms have to constantly communicate the issue of violence with thousands of readers. Therefore, the research question can be studied within the aforementioned example. The results of the study are expected to provide a list of communication strategies that can be used by online projects to conduct communication on sensitive issues.
