Our film is dedicated to the Bykovo estate, which is located in Moscow region near Zhukovsky. The palace was built in the 18th century during the reign of Nicholay I. In various periods the estate belonged to three major noble families – The Vorontsov, The Izmailov and The Ilin. This palace is an outstanding architectural monument, but now it requires an expensive restoration. The Bykovo estate is quite popular among history buffs, historians, scientists and filmmakers. Moreover, an active volunteer movement has gathered around the estate. We learned from Vita, the teamleader of the volunteers, that the descendants of the Ilin house are still alive. During the project we observed the estate and its surroundings: talked with the residents of the nearby houses, who shared their childhood memories aboot the appearance of the estate, went to the Ramensky Museum to talk to the director about the fate of the palace and to see the historical documents and objects stored there. We found a public page of the Bykovo estate jn Facebook and contacted volunteers to learn more about the activity around it. We found out that there is a large volunteer movement, they are trying to find the investor,to collect funds for the restoration themselves, the organize cleaning days and spread information on the Internet to preserve the memory of the great monument.
