The Role of Bank Lending in Economic Growth Stimulation in Russia and Kazakhstan

In this paper the author conducts an analysis of credit-growth nexus in Russia and Kazakhstan. For this case the chosen methodology is vector autoregression model, which can be used to identify causality of variables. The assumption of bank lending being a factor causing economic growth, which is based on J. Shumpeter's ideas, is rejected in case of Russia and accepted in Kazakhstan's case.
