The main focus of the current study is the analysis of the tertiary sector (in particular tourism) during the outbreak of COVID-19 in the year 2020. The paper investigates characteristics of the tourism industry in a group of Mediterranean countries (Spain, France and Italy) and suggests a number of outcomes in regard to the impact that tourism might have on the formation of consumer demand for services. The author referred to publications of Russian and foreign economists while conducting the research, data from national and international statistical centers was used for the creation of the regression model.
