In the course of work on the diploma project a visual research on the topic «Methods of construction narratives in a documentary photography» was conducted. There were considered works of ten photo artists: from the mid 1970s till nowadays. The study is separated into three chapters: concept photography without narrative, photography in which narrative has been distilled into a single image, storytelling in photo projects. The part of questions relates to a photography medium:
 1. What is documentary photography?
 2. Can we trust photos?
 3. Where is the boundary between photography as a document and a photography as an author’s statement?
 4. How can stories be told through photography?
The author is also interested in such dichotomies as: objective and subjective, documentary photography and photography, which pretends to be a documentary.
