The Justification of Idealism in Analytic Metaphysics and Philosophy of Mind

Student: Fedorova Mariia

Supervisor: Aleksandr Mishura

Faculty: Faculty of Humanities

Educational Programme: Philosophy (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

In my final thesis, I introduce the contemporary arguments for idealism in analytic metaphysics and philosophy of mind. I support Nicholas Rescher's pragmatic idealism and Michael Pelczar's radical phenomenalism. I evaluate the explanatory value of the corresponding idealist theories towards the main challenges associated with physicalism and property dualism. I demonstrate the methodological value of these theories in the framework of the neuroscientific approach to consciousness.
