Development of Interactive VR Demonstration of Computer Networking Basics

Equipment that allows people to experience virtual reality (VR) is rapidly becoming more affordable and provides better quality of experience as of late. One of the most perspective uses of this technology, apart from entertainment, is its utilization as a teaching material. The purpose of this study is to develop a VR application that can clearly demonstrate the basics of computer networking, while utilizing qualities of VR input to create a more natural interaction between user and virtual equipment, compared to traditional desktop network simulators. This work contains a quick overview of existing uses of VR in education, the process of developing the application, and testing it on a group of students. The paper consists of 35 pages and 17 pictures.
