The phenomenon of insanity and exclusion of certain people from the society was researched by Michel Foucault in his work «Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason». In this work we claim that Foucault ignored the topic of accusations of women being witches, when in reality they could have been insane. We will not only discuss this matter, but also will claim that this type of accusations were a radical way to exclude the so-called witches or rather people who were considered to be asocial elements from the society.
