This research aims at discovering statistical significance of governor’s approval rating effect on the severity of ethnic riot control choice through constructing several OLS models on a sample of African-American ethnic riots from 1991 to March 2021. The research concludes: 1) the severity of riot control choice is on average negatively related to governor's approval rating; 2) the effect of governor’s approval rating on the severity of riot control is moderated by governor's party affiliation.
