The current study is focused on the identification of factors and features of the development of British and American Slavic studies in the 1940s. The object of the research is a range of sources, which contain information about Slavic studies in the UK and the USA during this period. The subject is British and American Slavic studies. The research proposes a development of British and American Slavic studies on the eve of the Second World War and in the first war years. Next, it describes changes in the institutional structure of British and American Slavic studies. Finally, the research demonstrates a staffing situation and cooperation within the international community of Slavists.
