The problem of the women's status in Scythian society has been repeatedly raised by researchers of the Scythian archaeological culture. In particular, it concerned the graves of the so-called «Аmazons». However, a complex study of this issue hasn’t been still carried out. This research is based on the archaeological materials of the Zolotaya Balka burial ground, and represents an attempt to discuss the positions of women in the Scythian society in the period from the 5th to the 4th centuries BC. The main objects of research will be archaeological sources, which are planned to analyse and then compare with the written evidence of ancient authors. The paper will provide a background of the study, highlight the main tasks, contain a literature review, as well as the approaches appliedand the overview of the work’s structure.
