My thesis is devoted to the phenomenon of nostalgia "nostalgia for the nineties" in contemporary Russian popular culture (2000–2010). The main focus is on research methods and approaches to the study of this phenomenon. The object of our work is the Russian popular culture of the 2000s-2010s (in particular, contemporary Russian popular music and cinema), The theme of nostalgia for the 1990s is itself interdisciplinary and affects several disciplines - history, cultural studies, sociology. In order to achieve the interdisciplinarity required in this context, several theoretical approaches will be combined regarding the study of music and cinema, memory and historical culture. the main goal of the course work is to explore the phenomenon of nostalgia for 1990 and identify its various manifestations; to deconstruct the phenomenon of nostalgia in the 1990s in contemporary Russian music and cinema. The first chapter provides an overview of theoretical approaches to the study of nostalgia, as well as the methodology required to study the phenomenon of nostalgia. The chapter discusses methods of working with audiovisual, journalistic and Internet sources, as well as with surveys. The second chapter demonstrates how nostalgia is expressed in musical works of popular Russian music of the 2010s, how contradictory images of the past are presented in them. It is emphasized that music refers to the era of the 1990s after the collapse of the USSR in emotionally charged ways - for example, through nostalgia and trauma. The chapter explores the festivals dedicated to the 1990s, such as ISLAND-90 and ISLAND-91, Buhai & Tancui, as well as reunions of artists from the 1990s era, such as Hands Up !, Ivanushki International. It also explores the forms of nostalgia in contemporary popular Russian pop music and independent music scenes such as Pain. The third chapter examines contemporary Russian cinema, which presents the 1990s, and examines the form in which the era is reflected.
