Features of the Current Stage and Trends in the Development of E-Commerce in the Russian Federation and the EU

The relevance of the research topic is due to the pace of the e-commerce development both in the Russian Federation and in European countries, as well as the role that e-commerce plays, on the one hand, in the development of modern national economies and, on the other, in the global economy as a whole. The purpose of the study is to identify and study current trends in the e-commerce development in the EU and the Russian Federation. Chapter 1 of this Master’s thesis examines the essence of e-commerce, the history of its development, as well as key positive and negative characteristics of this segment of the economy. Chapter 2 analyzes particular features of the e-commerce development in the European Union and the Russian Federation, their current state and the reasons that influenced the achievement of the modern level of e-commerce in both considered economies. Chapter 3 is devoted to an overview of the current trends in the field of e-commerce and possible scenarios for its development, as well as the formulation of practical recommendations for the application of the experience of the European Union to the development of e-commerce in the Russian economy.
