The work is devoted to the study of speeches’ phonetic functions of representatives of the profession with increased speech responsibility, in particular, the guide-guide. The relevance of this study is due to the growing need of the tourism industry for highly qualified professionals. This study is relevant and the interest of modern linguistics, sociolinguistics and sociophonetics in the analysis of prosody of various oral speech discourse, as well as the problem of status marking of speech at the phonetic level. The main purpose of the work is to establish the role of phonetic means in ensuring the effectiveness of excursion discourse. The material of the study was audio recordings of samples of excursion performances performed by four men and two women (in front of both an audience and audio tours). The analysis showed that for representatives of professions with increased speech responsibility, in particular for guides, it is important to monitor the phonetic design of speech, since prosodic design is of particular importance for ensuring the effectiveness of speech communication. Based on the data obtained, it was revealed that the effectiveness of the successful implementation of the tasks of a qualified guide-guide depends on how well the translators know phonetic means, namely: from a technical point of view - diction, at the segment level - the absence of phonological disorders, at the level of prosody such parameters such as the clarity of the division of the speech stream, the use of pauses, the allocation of semantic centers, the variability of the melody, the appropriateness of the manner of speech, etc. The results obtained confirm the hypothesis that in the modern public speech of a guide, prosodic features of speech are one of the factors in the successful implementation of the speaker's tasks. The obtained observations can be useful in the development of methodological materials for the development of the phonetic competence of novice guides.
