The Contribution of Japanese Companies to Society 5.0 Policy Implementation

The present study concentrates on the role of large Japanese companies in Society 5.0 concept implementation and their contribution to it. The aim of the research is to identify the challenges in the firms’ performance that may hinder their maximum contribution to Society 5.0 realization and propose solutions to overcome them. To achieve the goal, the paper outlines 4 main aspects of the firms’ contribution to Society 5.0 and evaluates performance of the companies in the given aspects through 3 in-depth case studies of large Japanese corporations – Toyota Motor Corporation, Hitachi, Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. By conducting the case studies and comparing their outcomes, the paper manages to identify strengthens and weaknesses of the Japanese business world that may have an impact on Society 5.0 implementation. As the results of the study done, the paper provides recommendations and strategies to address various issues that were observed in the companies under study.
