Nowadays falsification of products, brands and self-expression in society are becoming common. Fakery of different sides of human’s life is an important feature of the modern world. Fashion as an industry is also producing false images. However, the surrounding world is also full of falsification. One of them is the Potemkin village by which any fake construction which provides an incorrect impression of a city or a region is understood. Architecture as people is an important part of a city’s environment and has an influence on everyday life. This project is devoted to the research of Potemkin villages in architecture, art and photography and its influence on people’s lives. It should be mentioned that as a part of this work the place of Potemkin villages in modern Russia is discovered. The aim of this project proposal is to create a fashion collection, based on the study of the Potemkin village in architecture, art and photography and devoted to the problem of the falsification in everyday life in modern Russia. Thus, content analysis, comparative method and method of observation are used to distinguish different types of Potemkin villages in the modern world, functions of fake constructions and their place and influence in people’s lives in Russia. As a result of visual research, the types of Potemkin villages and methods of providing fake impressions are used as techniques to create a fashion collection. Another result of this work is a fashion collection itself which is devoted to the problem of false constructions and images in modern Russia. The project consists of visual research which includes a case study in two cities of Russia and a fashion collection.
