Strategies and Tactics of "Bodily Writing" in the Contemporary English-Speaking Culture

The body as an integral part of a multidimensional human space acquires different levels of personal being. Each of them, in accordance with certain laws of nature, society, culture, is interconnected with other components of corresponding system such as natural factors, social institutions, and cultural norms. The human body is constantly modified and appears not as an unambiguous entity, but as a representation in three basic forms. These forms include the biological body, the social body, and the cultural body. The ‘body’ is the object of analysis as a background for studying the concept of the human body and ways of its embodying in various aspects, as well as lightens the actuality of the current work. Due to the multidimensional nature of the category of corporeality and interdisciplinary approach to its study, the very understanding of the body it becomes ambiguous, and therefore acquires a number of interpretations, each from which it brings to the surface its individual features. This work it is devoted to highlighting the specifics of the human body as a component of the imaginative space of a literary text. The main attention is focused on the features of the figurative interpretation of the popular principle of English literature texts which is well-known as ‘body-writing’. Study of the image of a human body experiences is based on the prose of contemporary and famous English authors, E.L. James, S. King and J. Green. The current work is of a high interest for students of translation and philological specialties as well as everyone who is a fond of modern English literature.
