Series of Shots for Russian Fashion Brands.

Photography plays a key role in defining global fashion culture and in shaping its discursive space. You could say that photography is seen by many as one of the main forces driving fashion.It is a big perpetual engine with an inexhaustible supply of energy, in the form of various cultural figures, artists, dancers, creatives and all kinds of others from the art world. Since the early 1990s, fashion photography has won the title of "influencing people's desires." It has occupied spaces beyond the magazine pages - it's walls in museums, galleries, auction houses. It was able to contribute to the creation of new technologies, it challenged different ideals of beauty, it proved politically and aesthetically provocative, economically profitable and ideologically powerful. Choosing this topic, the aim of the author was to study the authenticity of original ideas of commercial shoots today.This study is closely related to my second part of the diploma (all-Russian control paper), which is devoted to the work of a photographer with fashionable domestic clothing brands, where in each preparation for new shoots the author faces the problem of creating concepts. Relating the preferred aesthetics of the author's individual works to the arisen problem, the choice was made to analyze specifically the era of the 90's, referred to as heroin chic because of its decadent values. To understand and feel this particular style, the author refers to its history of origin, its key characters and studies the peculiarities of the visual language of the style.The way to support his assumptions about the impossibility or the extreme level of difficulty to create unique concepts for the mass market was by comparing a large number of clothing brands' campaigns from different epochs. More specifically, I compared the work of iconic photographers of the 90s with the work of their counterparts of today in the pages of the study.
