The work presents the views about the modernization of the national governance system and capacities for governance during the Xi Jinping era. The goal of this work is to study the opinions of Chinese academic and ruling elites and specialists in the field of sinology on the issue of modernizing national governance under Xi Jinping from 2012 to 2021, and also to study the relevance and importance of the process of modernization of national governance for modern China based on the views of Chinese scholars. Having considered the collected opinions of Chinese and some foreign scholars on the modernization of national governance, we can say that China will continue to follow its unique development path, creating a distinctive system of national governance corresponding to the Chinese characteristics, which can act as a mechanism of dialogue between the government and the masses. It should be noted that this path, including in the field of national governance, is attracting more and more attention abroad. China, having successfully coped with the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, proved that the Chinese system of national governance works quite smoothly and efficiently, and will continue to develop through improving the mechanisms of participation of the population in governing the country, but without conducting big and significant changes to the political one-party system in the era of Xi Jinping.
