The research is devoted to the various factors which affect the activities of the nonprofit sector, namely charitable foundations in the regions of Russia. In the field of social sciences most researchers study the influence of socio-economic external factors on quantity of charitable organizations. This research deals with external and internal factors which influence expenses of charitable foundations. In economics, there are many researchers who examine charitable foundations in Western countries but there are few researchers who examine charitable foundations in Russia. The reason for this may be that the development of the non-profit funds sector in Russia took place recently - in the early 90s of the 20th century, parallel to the development of a market economy in Russia. So, this study will analyze the case of charitable organizations in terms of different factors which influence the expenses of charitable foundations in the regions of Russia. The study examines the problem of development of charitable foundations in the regions of Russia. The purpose of the research is to identify the factors that determine the potential and limitations of development of charitable foundations. Methodologically, the research is conducted within the frameworks of econometrics, which help establish broad connections between expenses of foundations and factors. The research is expected to result in the interpretation of the impact of external and internal factors on the development of charitable foundations. The study will consistently fit into a series of researches which analyze the charity sector. The research consists of an introduction, literature review, methods, results, conclusion and references.
