The basis for sustainable growth and development of any economy is its reliable access to energy resources at a reasonable and affordable price. This paper deals with the problem of energy security, which is expressed in the form of security of natural gas supplies to countries that cannot meet domestic demand at the expense of domestic production. One of the measures to ensure security of supply is to increase access to foreign oil and gas reserves through foreign direct investment, the purpose of which is to get control over assets. One of the most famous examples of such a country is Germany, which has insignificant hydrocarbon reserves and a high dependence on external supplies. In this regard, the purpose of this paper is to analyze foreign direct investment in Germany to ensure energy security.
