International Football Competitions As A Factor Of "Soft Power" (The Example Of Arabian Gulf Countries)

In the contemporary world, sports have become more important in international relations. Football, and in particular football competitions and tournaments, clubs, national teams, as part of world sports, began to be used by developing countries as a political tool. The purpose of this study is to define the role of football in the "soft power" policies of the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. The hypothesis is that in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, investing in football is part of the national strategy of the states. In the process of the study, various methods were used: Comparative analysis, case study, generalizations, system methods, etc. The results of the study suggest that there is a stable relationship between the foreign policy of states and investment in football.
