Student: Kukol Ekaterina

Supervisor: Tatiana Rivchun

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Design (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

The purpose of this study is an attempt to trace how the ideas of choreographers have changed over two centuries, the historical retrospective serves as a clear illustration of how the ideas of the past are developed, conceptualized and refracted in the dance of the 21st century. The work will consider examples of the visual specifics of the relationship between the human body and space, the dancer's ability to reflect and explore the environment in which he is. This approach will allow you to view dance in a variety of contexts and see the full picture. The presence of a person in a new space or landscape, the study of the place by bodily and tactile interaction - one of the main motives of the graduation project. In the work on the performance-procession “Jan” based on the story by Andrei Platonov, it is required to translate the physiology of the text into the language of scenography, try to remove the necessary sensations from the hero's inner thoughts through the organization of space and texture, and then convey them in an artificially developed environment. After reviewing many years of experience in experiments in dance, it is possible to find ways to translate the verbal into the language of movement and sensation, try to direct the viewer to communicate with space, work with a sense of time, presence and attention.
