The paper takes on the position P. A. Florensky has about language. The concept of language in Florensky's philosophy unfolds upon antinomism as the main methodological principle. Language exemplifies said principle. In this light the paper considers language in it's specificity for the ontological and gnoseological levels of philosophical inquiry. Thus, the research focuses on the features of the relationship between language and being and the consequences of such a relationship for the theory of knowledge. The research is based not only on the corpus of works by P. A. Florensky, but also on the critical literature, represented both by the opinions of Florensky's contemporaries, such as N. A. Berdyaev, N. O. Lossky, and academic works authored by S. S. Khoruzhiy, S. M. Polovinkin. In particular, the paper attempts to recontextualize and put forward P. A. Florensky as the notable figure in the development of linguophilosophy and philosophy of language in the ХХ century.
