This study examines the issue of combining students ' studies and work, depending on the financial assistance of their parents. The goal of the study is to identify the relationship between the factor of financial assistance from parents and the probability of students entering the labor market during their education. Research question of the work: is there a difference in the probability of combining a student's studies and work with financial support from his parents, depending on gender and specialization in training? The paper uses data from the panel study "Trajectories in education and profession” (Trec). The research was carried out with the support of the "HSE Basic Research Program". The final sample consisted of data from three "waves". It consists of the results of surveys of students who studied in higher educational institutions of Russia in 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years. The final sample consisted of 2507 observations for 17 variables. The research method is econometric analysis using logit models. Main results of the work: 1) The probability of a student entering the labor market during higher education is negatively related to the availability of financial assistance from parents. 2) Students studying on a commercial basis work more often than students studying on a budget basis. 3) Students of the specializations "mathematics and IT", "pedagogy and education" and "economics and management" are more likely to enter the labor market than students of other specializations.
