The phenomenon of interdependence and interconnection between language, culture and cognition has been studied by scholars for many years. The way people perceive the world is shaped by the language as well as cognition and culture influence on the language. Each culture has its own worldview and perception of the world. However, cultural differences are not bound only by language differences, but also by gender difference. Previous studies have shown that men and women use language in different ways, e.g. means of expressiveness and vocabulary are implemented differently. The present paper is aimed to shed the light on the differences between Russian and Spanish cultures in terms of linguistic gender differences via analyzing female images in the book El Perro del Hortelano (The Dog of Manger) written by Lope de Vega and its Russian translation performed by M.Lozinsky. The research will be based on the comparative analysis of lexical units used in the original text of the book and its Russian version. The worldview of both countries, usage of means of expressiveness and gender differences in language usage will be examined within this work. The results of the present paper may be helpful for the further research of the cultural differences between Russia and Spain. Key words: cross-cultural differences, worldview, means of expressiveness, gender differences, language usage
