The research is dedicated to the political and legal views of the Russian thinker and statesman F.D. Samarin in 1905. Later Slavophilism exerted a rather significant influence on the intellectual life and political practice of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. Nevertheless, the political and legal views of F.D. Samarin have been studied less than the views and activities of other neo-slavophiles, such as A.A. Kireev, D.A. Khomyakov, M.A. Novosyolov and D.N. Shipov. Thus, the study of the views of Samarin during the Revolution of 1905 - 1907 important for understanding both Slavophilism and the history of Russian political and legal thought in general. According to the results of the study, it was established that F.D. Samarin was able to offer his own unique way of applying and adapting the ideas of the early slavophiles. Trying to adapt the Slavophil teaching to the political circumstances of the 20th century, Samarin discussed both with the liberal-constitutionalist opposition and with the liberal measures of the government. At the same time, Samarin consistently defended his own position on many issues (relations between the Church and the state, the convocation of the Zemsky Sobor), on which he entered into polemics with other conservatives and the left wing of neo-Slavophilism. Although after 1905 - 1907. F. D. Samarin continued his political activities and was even elected a member of the «Gosudarstvenniy Sovet», where he became one of the leaders of the right-wing party, in subsequent years he gradually moved away from politics and social activities, focusing mainly on church issues.
