Comparative Analysis of Russian and French Proverbs and Sayings about Labor and Work

This work is devoted to the study of Russian and French proverbs and sayings about work and labor and is aimed to determine the attitude to work and labor activity of the French and Russians on the basis of a comparative - comparative analysis of proverbs and sayings about work and labor. The aim of the work is a comparative analysis of the proverbs and sayings of the French and Russian languages about work and labor. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: - Bringing definitions of terms such as proverbs, proverbs, as well as paremiology; - Study of French and Russian proverbs and sayings about labor and work, their history, trends in their development, as well as determining their role in phraseology and culture; - Finding commonalities and differences in the representation of work and labor of the French and Russian people through proverbs and sayings; –Based on the results obtained, draw a conclusion about the attitude towards the work of the Russians and the French, as well as confirm or refute the hypothesis of the research. In accordance with the tasks set, the following research methods were used: the study and synthesis of 87 French and 126 Russian proverbs and sayings about work and labor, as well as a descriptive method and their comparative analysis. After analyzing the paremias according to our criteria, we found that the attitude of Russians to work can be called positive: Russian paremias approve of diligence and hard work, condemn vices, work is often associated with concepts such as “happiness”, “prosperity”, “honor”, "hard work", "need". French's attitude to work can be associated with such words as "treasure", "excellence", "prosperity". French paremias call for hard work, but work itself is not considered the most important thing in French life, so many areas of life have remained unaffected by work paremes. Unlike the Russian series of paremias, French is equally positive and neutral, while Russian is more positive. Comparative analysis allows us to conclude that in the Russian language there are more paremias about work and labor than in French. Based on this, we come to the conclusion that for the Russian people labor occupies a more significant place than for the French, which is why Russian labor certificates also affect a large number of other aspects of human life. Despite this, we still managed to identify a large number of similar categories among the French and Russian paremias and confirm the hypothesis that the attitude to work among the Russians and the French converges in many respects.
