Problems of Applying Approaches to Assessing Company Value in Emerging Markets

This article examines the main problems of applying approaches to assessing the value of companies in emerging markets. The study provides an overview of the literature on the main valuation methods, discusses their applicability and limitations, and discusses the importance of calculating the discount rate for the purpose of valuing a company. Subsequently, the discount rate is calculated using the CAPM model and its modifications for 10 Russian companies. In addition, in this article, on the basis of the estimates obtained, a comparative analysis is carried out and the value of companies is calculated using an income approach, the main problems of using methods for assessing capital assets in the developing market of Russia are analyzed and the corresponding conclusions are drawn.
