This work is based on the assumption that speaking tasks provoke more intensive adaptation for the language, expand the use of lexical variations and grammatical constructions. The main goal of this work is to develop a set of effective tasks to encourage children to speak in a classroom where English is taught as a foreign language. Basing on the main intention of this work, the following methods are used: content-analysis of the existing literature on the topic, aimed at identifying the most frequently used tasks for developing speaking skills, secondly, testing of these tasks in a focus group and subsequent analysis. The academic value of this research is its contribution to the discussion of the problem of teaching children to speak. This research is important both for novice teachers who are taking the first steps in developing their own methods and for master teachers who are clearly able to adapt more innovative methods for developing speaking skills.
