French is one of the most widely spoken language in the world. Millions of students study it as the first, second, third foreign language. To confirm the progress, the level of knowledge of this foreign language, an international test was created: DELF, which allows you to fully assess the student's skills. Nowadays, people have a huge choice of exam preparation methods, one of which involves the use of manuals. It is difficult to find the best one among the huge variety, so the main purpose of this paper is to determine the effectiveness of textbooks. One of the most widely used French textbooks "ABC DELF B2" by Marie-Louise Parizet was selected for this study. In the course of this work, a group of 20 students was selected who are preparing for the DELF B2 exam. An empirical control stage for passing the DELF B2 exam was carried out, identifying the positive aspects of using the textbook in preparation, as well as the weakest aspects (according to the test results and an additional sociological survey of the same group). After that, we proposed possible ways of modifying the textbook to increase efficiency and improve results, and then tested it on a group of selected students, showing an increase in their level.
