M&A transactions are a powerful and pervasive process that affects the global economy, changing employment patterns, employee incomes and investor behavior. More and more companies are turning to mergers to reap the benefits of expanding markets, increasing productivity and profitability, and tax breaks. This article defines M&A, examines the structure and motives. Methods for researching the effectiveness of M&A have been analyzed in the literature. The effectiveness of M&A is investigated using an event research method based on cumulative anomalous returns. The results of the regression models revealed the positive impact of mergers and acquisitions and determinants on the profitability of the buying company. From the point of view of practical application, the results obtained will be useful in organizing M&A of various sectors.
