The topic of this research is “Language awareness and representation of the concept «pogodnye yavleniya»/ “weather conditions” through phraseological units in English and Russian languages”. The choice of the topic is due to the fact that the specificity of the concept "Weather conditions" in the English and Russian language consciousness has not been studied enough to have a clear idea of the cultural characteristics of these countries. The main purpose of this work is to study and analyze, as well as to describe the national and cultural characteristics of the concept "Weather phenomena"/"Weather conditions" in English and Russian languages. In the first part of the research to achieve the above-mentioned goal such tasks as the analysis of the concept, its structure, main characteristics, as well as more detailed consideration of the concept from the point of view of culturological approach were set. In the second part of the work a comparative analysis of such lexemes as rain, thunder, snow, storm, fog, wind, cloud, lightning, as well as phraseological expressions comprising these concepts was conducted. The choice of phraseological units is due to the fact that they are one of the main means of concept realization and also have a special linguocultural significance. Based on the data obtained, conclusions were made about the national and cultural peculiarities of the perception of weather phenomena by the representatives of English and Russian cultures.
