The priority of modern education is gradually shifting towards the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in foreign language learning. The trend of using the Internet as one of the resources for language acquisition has recently become an increasingly frequent subject of discussion and research, which determines the relevance of this paper. This study analyses social media as an integral part of the Internet that can be used as additional authentic material in foreign languages teaching. The work is to identifies the most effective means of learning language aspects (lexical and grammatical) among 1) traditional teaching aids, 2) Instagram posts and 3) TikTok videos covering the same learning material based on the experimental method and the students' survey. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of using the above-mentioned social media due to the interactive form of presenting material on both lexical and grammatical topics. The empirical component of the study determines the possibility of creating courses and learning resources as part of learning English as a foreign language in Instagram and TikTok social networks.
