Employee adaptation is a very important stage in the process of hiring a new person. It is the quality of adaptation that determines how effectively a new employee will work and whether he or she will stay with the company for a long time. Despite the importance of this step, Russian companies still devote quite little time and resources to adaptation, which has a negative impact on staff turnover and overall team performance. In spite of the fact that the topic of introversion and extraversion has been very well studied not only by psychologists, but also by human resource specialists, almost no attention is paid to the adaptation of introverts in the workplace. This work is devoted to studying this topic and drawing up recommendations for increasing the efficiency of introverts' adaptation process. This research has several objectives: to study the existing literature on work adaptation, introversion and extraversion, and work habits of people with different personality traits; to survey employees who have had their first work experience in IT about their adaptation experiences; to analyze the results; and to make recommendations for companies on improving the adaptation process for introverts. The study revealed that introverts face more professional and social problems at work, and therefore really need a more elaborate adaptation process than extroverts. The study resulted in a list of recommendations for companies to make it easier for introverts to adjust to a new workplace.
