Overcoming Psychological Barriers and Language Teaching Methods in Urban Areas

There is a multitude of language teaching methods. Undoubtedly, each method can be applied in diverse learning environments, but it is essential to take into account the individual characteristics of the students, including the psychological characteristics of the individual. At present, there are a lot of psychological barriers and obstacles encountered by students that should be overcome. In addition, this study examines such an important factor as the urban environment which has a significant impact on the academic performance, language acquisition and the process of teaching. The relevance of research topic is primarily concerned with the fact that it is interdisciplinary in nature . This study aims to identify psychological barriers and devise strategies to overcome them. Furthermore, the primary goal of this research is to conduct a comparative analysis of foreign language teaching in various urban environments. To achieve the above-mentioned goal, qualitative and quantitative research methods are used. Anticipated results include several strategies which will be effective in order to overcome psychological barriers in two urban environments. The results can be useful in improving the foreign language teaching in different regions of Russia. Moreover, similar investigations concerning other disciplines may be carried out.
