Year of Graduation: 2021

The company's most valuable asset is information. Information is the most important resource for any organization. To remain competitive, organizations must meet or exceed consumer expectations. Moreover, the world has witnessed an information explosion. Data is generated at a high rate, and more and more of this data is not structured, making it difficult to analyze. Currently, data is seen as a new class of economic assets, just like currency or gold. Thus, in order to remain competitive and improve its own performance, the company must make decisions, often quickly, based on timely and accurate information. So many leading innovative companies are implementing business intelligence systems and relying on them to stay ahead of trends and future developments. The result of all this is a competitively superior performance for the business, which allows for an adequate and timely response to customer concerns and primary concerns. Despite increasing investment and significant market expansion, the available evidence suggests that many organizations do not benefit from the implemented BI systems. More than 70% of BI projects do not bring the expected advantages for organizations. Organizations are constantly struggling to find the best way to take advantage of BI systems and succeed in implementing them. In this work, we reviewed the standard capabilities of BI systems, compared the market leaders Tableau and Power BI by 12 parameters, and concluded that in 2021, the Power BI capabilities are better than the competitor. The main market trends are highlighted: automation, predictive analysis, NLP and mobile analytics. In the practical part, successful cases of BI implementation in the company AnswerOn and Heathrow Airport were considered. The optimal methodology for implementing the BI solution in the business was also determined and the case of choosing a BI platform for a developing car-sharing company was solved.
