Connection of Human Self-Esteem with Dependence/Interdependence in Interpersonal Relations

Self-esteem largely determines the state of a person, his place in a social society, how relationships with people will develop. This paper will explore the relationship between self-esteem and addiction and interdependence in interpersonal relationships. The research used such methods as: author's questionnaire, Rosenberg self-esteem scale, R. Hirshfield's interpersonal dependence test, picture analysis, interviews. The study involved 14 couples aged 18 to 30 years, the average age of the subjects was 25 years. According to the rules for passing the study, all couples must be in a relationship for at least six months, among which there were couples, both officially registered relations (5 couples) and being in an unofficially registered relationship (9 couples). The average length of a relationship is 2.6 years. In the course of the study, it was revealed that the hypothesis that there is a connection between self-esteem and dependence or interdependence in interpersonal relationships was partially confirmed. The hypothesis that low, unstable self-esteem is characteristic of partners in dependent relationships was confirmed. The hypothesis that adequate, stable self-esteem is characteristic of partners in interdependent relationships was confirmed. The hypothesis that the drawings of couples in dependent relationships and in interdependent relationships have differences was partially confirmed.
