Information Systems Planning in a Large Organization

Organizations of all types and sizes have been investing increasing amount of money in IT projects for the last decade. Many large companies have undergone a complete organizational overhaul in the name of digital transformation. The investment in various production automation systems, ECM systems, IT infrastructure was made in the hope of increasing productivity and gaining a competitive advantage. Information systems are now viewed as strategically significant entities that can affect all aspects of the company (regarding its mission, core competence) and help establish better communication between all the stakeholders. In this paper, the author review the most prominent information systems planning frameworks and methodologies, which are then applied to a case of a large organization that faces a challenge of communication between multiple stakeholders under great macroeconomic uncertainty.
