The graduation paper is devoted to the study of the influence of business characteristics of the members of the board of directors on the success of Russian banks. The problem of the study is related to the fact that the results of bank’s activities are carefully regulated; banks are subject to many legal requirements; if they do not comply with them, the bank is deprived of its license. The bank’s activities are significantly influenced by its managers, whose business characteristics determine the bank’s successful and effective operation in the banking market. At the same time, the question of interest is as follows: to what extent the change of the head or the inclusion of managers with business characteristics that meet the requirements of the banking sector in the board of directors affects the bank’s successful operation. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that the success of Russian banks is positively influenced by the following factors: the presence of an academic degree and the presence of experience in the management of other legal entities. This means that education, as well as experience in managing other legal entities, allows the bank to use the professional experience and knowledge of a member of the board of directors and reduce the likelihood of bankruptcy or revocation of the license.
