The Impact of Blended Learning on Students' Motivation in English Classes

Blended learning, being an integration of online and traditional learning, is gaining popularity nowadays. Although the concept itself remains rather unstudied, it attracts not only teachers, but also students. It is proved that blended format is widely utilized in education, mainly transforming English Language Teaching. However, using this approach, teachers face difficulties, one of which is the lack of student motivation. This work is aimed at identifying the degree of influence of blended learning on student motivation in English classes and finding ways to boost it. The concept of blended learning, its application in teaching foreign languages, and the role of motivation in the educational process are extensively investigated. Moreover, both quantitative and qualitative methods are applied. The research comprises collecting data through surveys in Google Form and structured interviews with teachers and students. As a result of this work, foreign language teachers will learn about the impact of blended learning on student motivation in English classes and ways to increase it, which will help them to engage students in the learning process in their own lessons.
