Cinematography as a means of intercultural communication learning has been a question of great interest in the past few years. Central to this issue is intercultural communication theory which occurs to be helpful on various levels of human interaction and language. This paper focuses on the ways of learning intercultural differences via cinematography based on a TV series “SKAM” comparing Norwegian and Italian cultures. The investigation sheds new light on foreign films perception problems by scrutinizing possible stereotypes that appeared in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris” towards French culture. The key research method used to attain this aim is a comparative and analytical analysis. The results anticipated could reveal and advance new ways of understanding intercultural differences and the methods of the development of intercultural competence by the process of watching films and the demonstration of the ways stereotypical cinematography can be beneficial for the development of critical thinking skills. In future, it seems appropriate to put theory into practice by employing certain analytical techniques from cinematography mentioned throughout the paper in the process of intercultural communication.
