Tiktok as a Means of Foreign Language Acquisition

Techniques used in language acquisition have undergone drastic shifts over the past decades due to an increase in the use of technology on a day-to-day basis. This resulted in new trends in the domain of foreign language teaching, such as mobile-assisted language learning (MALL), gamification, blended learning, and the use of social media. Ranked as the top most downloaded app with over 689 million users worldwide, TikTok is believed to be a useful tool in second language acquisition. The objective of the present study is to raise awareness on the topic of MALL among educators and acknowledging the use of the social medium in class. The final product of this paper is a comprehensive self-study guide for English learners that will allow them to master both productive and receptive language skills with the help of TikTok content.
