Year of Graduation: 2021

Research of data storage methods is a perspective direction for improving performance characteristics and economic efficiency of production systems. This work performs research and an in-depth analysis of approach based on simultaneous use of several different data storage algorithms for handling workloads containing multiple access patterns. Described approach is implemented in consolidation with prior research for key-value interface in a storage subsystem prototype. Conducted performance tests prove efficiency of hybrid approach with thread-per-core architecture. Also, a component using byte-addressable non-volatile main memory (Storage Class Memory – SCM) for data storage was implemented as a part of the system prototype. Analysis of performance testing results shows performance gains and efficiency of such device type. SCM capabilities make it essential for perspective storage engines. Keywords: data storage, storage engine, DBMS, thread-per-core, key-value, Storage Class Memory, NVM.

Student Theses at HSE must be completed in accordance with the University Rules and regulations specified by each educational programme.

Summaries of all theses must be published and made freely available on the HSE website.

The full text of a thesis can be published in open access on the HSE website only if the authoring student (copyright holder) agrees, or, if the thesis was written by a team of students, if all the co-authors (copyright holders) agree. After a thesis is published on the HSE website, it obtains the status of an online publication.

Student theses are objects of copyright and their use is subject to limitations in accordance with the Russian Federation’s law on intellectual property.

In the event that a thesis is quoted or otherwise used, reference to the author’s name and the source of quotation is required.
